General Info

Osteria Lupo brings the rich, comforting flavors of Northern Italy to 4609 Magazine St in New Orleans. The restaurant feels polished without being overly formal, making it a great choice for a relaxed dinner, date night, or meal with friends. Its menu focuses on fresh ingredients, house-made pasta, wood-fired cooking, and shareable dishes designed to keep the table interesting from start to finish.

Pasta is one of the biggest reasons to visit Osteria Lupo. The kitchen prepares its pasta in-house, giving each dish a fresh texture that works beautifully with the carefully developed sauces. The blue crab radiatori is a popular choice, pairing tender crab with curled pasta that holds onto every bit of flavor. Meanwhile, the spicy rigatoni offers a richer and bolder option for diners who enjoy a little heat. Both dishes show the restaurant’s attention to detail without feeling fussy.

The wood-fired oven also plays an important role in the menu. It adds a smoky depth to pizzas, roasted meats, and seasonal vegetables. The pizzas arrive with crisp edges, a pleasantly chewy center, and toppings that feel balanced rather than overloaded. Roasted vegetables make excellent additions to the table, especially when shared alongside pasta and seafood.

Seafood lovers also have plenty to enjoy. The scallops are often praised for being cooked just right, with a golden exterior and a tender center. Depending on the menu, guests may also find other regional seafood dishes inspired by Northern Italian coastal cooking. Since the plates are easy to share, it is simple to sample several flavors instead of committing to only one main course.

Along with the food, Osteria Lupo offers a strong wine program and a full bar. The wine selection includes bottles that pair naturally with pasta, seafood, roasted dishes, and pizza. Staff members are knowledgeable and happy to help guests choose a wine without making the experience feel intimidating. Cocktails are also available for those who prefer something beyond wine.

Service is another highlight. Diners often describe the team as friendly, attentive, and well informed about the menu. The staff can explain ingredients, recommend dishes, and help accommodate dietary restrictions when possible. This thoughtful approach makes the restaurant feel welcoming, even for guests visiting for the first time.

The atmosphere is warm, lively, and stylish, while still comfortable enough for a casual evening. With house-made pasta, wood-fired specialties, excellent drinks, and caring service, Osteria Lupo offers a memorable Italian dining experience on Magazine Street.

What customers say?

“ I was in town for a 3-day conference and ended up coming here TWICE because the food was so spectacular! I came with a different group each time, and everyone was raving. From the pastas made in-house, to the creative pairings of fun and vibrant flavors - looking at you, bluefin crudo - to the perfectly cooked hanger steak and crispy potatoes - everything was tremendous. Our servers, Ashley and Erin, were friendly, took amazing care of our tables, and made the whole experience super memorable. If I could give this place six stars, I would!! ”

“ Atmosphere was awesome. Drinks and service also great. For food we got the wood fired oysters and truffle arancini. They were a bit underwhelming. For our entrees we got the Radiatori & the Cresto de Gallo both of which were awesome. Would definitely come back. ”
